Presentation: Transition Dynamics: Trust and Followership During Organizational Change – A Continuation

2024

This interactive session was given at the International Leadership Conference in 2024 in Chicago with Drs. Mitchell Gurick and Vailet Yarijanian.

In recent times and post-pandemic, numerous organizations have grappled with significant challenges, necessitating them to adapt and evolve, undergoing significant reorganizations. Amidst these changes, those who have persevered must now collaboratively engage in the task of rebuilding trust and revitalizing their work methodologies.

Following the discussions at the 2024 Global Followership Conference, this World Cafe session continues to explore the impact of organizational dynamics and followership during transitions. Focused on the aftermath of significant organizational changes, including post-pandemic adaptations, our session aims to delve deeper into rebuilding trust and revitalizing work methodologies. Real-life experiences from industry and higher education will provide practical insights, supplemented by collaborative brainstorming to generate innovative solutions. We’ll encourage collaborative rapid ideation to explore how organizations can apply these insights to better support employees and enhance organizational dynamics during times of transition.

This session employs the lenses of organizational dynamics and followership theory to analyze the profound effects of organizational transformations and personnel transitions on both employees and the intricate dynamic between employees and leaders. The context of our session includes real-life accounts of substantial reorganizations from an HR leader at a prominent American multinational technology company, an Associate Dean from an American higher education institution, offering practical insights into the organizational dynamics and followership perspectives, and a strategic client success expert in a large, online K-12 school.
